Founded in 1967, Flournoy Development Group has developed over 40,000 apartment homes in more than 220 communities across the Southeastern United States. In January 2018, Flournoy was acquired by Kajima USA, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Kajima Corporation, a Tokyo-based construction, engineering and design firm established in 1840. With over 7,000 employees, Kajima Corporation has operations in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America, annual revenues in excess of $15 billion and is one of the largest design, construction and real estate development companies worldwide.
Our focus had always been the multifamily market, but recently we developed two senior living communities: Camellia Walk which opened in 2014 in Evans, Georgia, and Thrive Green Island which opened in 2018 just down the road from our home office in Columbus, GA.
Given the success of both communities, in 2018, we made the strategic decision to address the needs of older Americans, and created a dedicated senior living practice. We relied on our deep understanding and experience with multifamily development and construction, and utilized our existing relationships to gain an initial toehold in the senior living market. However, we realized that to become a premier senior living developer, we would need to do something different. And that we did!
